My super busy 11 month old

Little bug,

Man you are one busy baby. Without further ado, here is your 11 month shot:

And here are a few from the process, it was hard to get you to sit still long enough to let us take a picture.

You may have noticed the cut and bump on the left side of your face. Your Mommy had her first major fail and let you tip over a stroller which resulted in your falling flat on your face. It terrified me, we were at Mammoth National Park and I made an EMT check you out. You cried for about 30 seconds, but in typical Kaia fashion you were all smiles when the EMT took a look at you. You appear to be fine, just a bit banged up. We found this pillow at your Dad's cousins house, thought the timing was pretty perfect.

The plane ride was significantly more difficult on this trip, having you sit still for over two hours is pretty near impossible. We got you to sleep a little bit on both flights, but mostly you tore apart magazines and bounced around as much as you possibly could.

You finally have two teeth poking through, which has helped you tackle all sorts of new food challenges. You have no problem eating anything we offer you, it takes a lot of energy to be such a busy little baby. You are extremely eager to walk, which means you stand on everything (hence the stroller incident), you're cruising a bit and can balance for a second just standing, but otherwise you're becoming an exceptionally efficient crawler. You say the word hi and wave (only to yourself, I'll post a video when we have one), but otherwise you just babble up an incoherent flood of sounds as often as you can. We introduced you to a blow up penguin we thought you'd love, but you were terrified. We now have a regular standoff in the living room, you're ok with him until he moves, then you get out of his way as quickly as you can.

We just got back from Tennessee, it was a lot of fun, your Dad has most of the pictures on his camera, but here are a few shots:

We had a lot of fun meeting all of your extended family. Everyone commented on what a sweet and happy baby you are (so the opinion seems to be universal). We went to a couple of caves, hung out in the pool, and danced up a storm at your cousin Mindy's wedding. It was a lot of fun.

I'm getting a bit behind on my posts. Your brothers did their 5th birthday photo shoot, and while it was their shoot, we got a couple good shots of you and the family:

I'll post some of my favorites once I get the files.

As always, I absolutely adore you my little sweet pea. I can't wait to see what sort of crazy new things you learn next :)

The March Book

Little bug,

I just keep plugging away, on about a 2 month lag, here's the March book. It's a bit skimpy, apparently working crazy hours cut down on my picture taking significantly.

Shutterfly photo books are the new way to preserve your memories. Create your own today.

We're getting close to the 11 month mark so you'll get a full post soon. We just had your brothers 5th birthday party, it was a blast. You're starting to get more afraid of things, at the party there was an inflatable penguin that absolutely terrified you, and a tunnel that we got you to crawl through, but you cried the entire way.  Your Nanna and Cousin Henri came out as well, it was a great time. We'll have pictures to come.

You did finally pop not one, but 2 teeth through on their birthday, so it was a bit of a rough day. Way to go big little girl. Love you lots!

One happy mama

Baby bug,

I had my first Mother's Day, with you on the outside :), and it was fantastic. I'm still feeling so lucky to have gotten to be your Mom that I really don't need much else at this point.

Here's my sappy letter to you. Anyone other than Kaia can feel free to skip this part and go directly to the pictures.

Kaia Doll,

I hate that everything I want to say to you is so cliche, because it feels so profoundly new to me. You fill this place in my heart that has just been waiting  for you my entire life. There is nothing I'd rather do than hang out with you, and when you go to sleep, even when I'm exhausted, I am most excited for you to wake up so we can play some more.

I know we're going to fight some day (you are a Watson afterall), and I hope that you can try to remember that anything I'm fighting you in is something that I truly believe is in your best interest. You're going to make some choices that are going to lead to hurt and pain, and those are important things to go through, but I'm going to hate watching that more than anything. So please try to remember, that when you are really mad at me because of my stance on something, that I am truly motivated by my love for you (even if I'm wrong).

Most importantly baby doll, know that there is not a thing in this world that you could do that would change the way I love you. I am unconditionally on your side, even when you're wrong, so you should never feel like you're fighting a battle alone. I will forever and always be in your corner.

I adore you sweet pea,

Your Mom

Alright, and now back to the updates. You are one little terrorist.

You are constantly on the move and into everything you can reach. You are very aware of what your toys are and do your best to avoid them. You'd much prefer to play with trash, diaper wipes, and leftover plastic eggs from Easter. You've recently learned to splash, and are quite thrilled about doing it at all times. We've been letting you have baths in the big bath, and you make a point of herding your brothers into a corner so that you can have full reign over the rest of the tub. You have a thing for the letter "i" in the bathtub, which seems to be the only letter that makes its way into your mouth. You seem to be extremely comfortable in water.r

You are convinced that you can stand up, and have no qualms with attempting it in any and all settings (a favorite being the bath tub). You're working on walking, but haven't quite mastered the mechanics of it. You sort of maneuver like a tiny Frankenstein at this point.

You have a very sweet relationship with your brothers. Noah loves to play with you and make you laugh, which you do at the first sight of him. He recently went to CA to visit your Nana and requested that he get to bring you with him. He also likes to translate your baby talk (which is sounding oddly German at the moment). According to Noah you like to talk about how much you love your brothers. Caleb is less interested in playing with you, but does love to cuddle with you. He's also much more likely to give you a good smooch good night.

You are petrified of animals, they don't make you cry, but they do seem to make you squawk.  We're working on getting you used to them, but so far they seem to just terrify you.

That's about if for the updates, here are a few other pictures from the past month or so. We've got a busy May ahead of us, your brothers turn 5 in a few days and we're heading to TN for a wedding at the end of the month. I love you sweet pea!!
