Building the treehouse roof
Kaia always demands to help dado. Today we built a roof for the treehouse. She learned how to use a circular saw and helped haul lumber to build the roof trusses.
At one point she was ringing a cowbell... I think she was making sure our ear protection was working. She could only find one of her workboots, so she had to improvise.

My final one year old
Ari guy,
Ari and his bday card
You are the happiest child of all time. You currently have a double ear infection and we had no idea anything was wrong because you never cry. You tend to get fussy around nap/bed time, and then go instantly to sleep and life is good again. You are insanely busy. It’s exhausting just watching you walk from one thing to the next. You like to wreck things, climb, bounce, and throw things. You don’t really talk yet, you point constantly (even in your sleep) and you say dadadada and what sounds a lot like hi when you wave. You love food. All food. You’re a great walker and have now made that your main mode of getting around. You are 20 lbs and 30 inches long. So far you’re tracking right along average which would put you well above your miniature siblings.
We did a where the wild things are birthday. You had a blast. You loved the balloons, cake, and all the family/toys. There was also a musical card you loved. You started dancing every time it opened. The day after your birthday we went to Vegas. You loved all the lights and liked to dance outside the bars on the strip. Needless to say, you were a hit. I adore you little man!

Wild thing
Arbs,
You are walking! Though you still mostly crawl. You perfected your balance before ever attempting a step, so when you took it you did it flawlessly. You are a little maniac. You love to bang on things and knock stuff over. We joke that you are offended by anything that would dare stand upright in your line of sight because you are so adament about knocking it all over. You eat anything and everything and really don't seem to have any favorites as of yet. You're babbeling lots, but you don't say anything yet (dad insists you say dada, which you do, but you say it constantly about all things so it doesn't count). You're mostly a good sleeper. You get tired early and violently flip yourself over to your stomach the second we put you down and instantly fall asleep. You've been sick the last few days so your sleep has been suspect. You refuse to drink it out of anything other than a bottle or a big kid cup (no sippy cups for you). You love your siblings and they constantly obsess over you. We love you lots little monkey!
Kaia, you continue to be a force all your own. You are so uniquely Kaia and I adore it. You're awful to put to sleep and you're not much of a morning person. You love playing family with you siblings and snuggling with your mama. You like to sing and in general like being the center of attention. You're playing soccer, and tend to run up and down the field while watching us for our reaction. You love ketchup, via spoon or straw, it's pretty disgusting. You HATE pickles. We adore you little Kai bear!

Daddy's Helper
My sweet, sweet baby girl has been daddy's biggest helper this summer. She asks to work outside with daddy all the time. Even if dad isn't working she makes me go outside so we can work together. She is so confident and capable for a little 4 year old. There's nothing she won't do. She'll come home from school and run out to shovel dirt in her pretty dress. She has her own kid sized gardening gloves, shovel and "wheel barrel".
She has helped daddy build a wall as a fence, shovel dirt and gravel (from the top of the pile is her favorite way), has swept and powerwashed. She has learned how to change drill bits, use a level and can build a fence. She hauled 20 fence pickets and a 5 lb box of nails. She helps pick up tree trimmings. Once daddy was tired after bundling branched and lied down in the driveway. "Come on dad" Kaia said "it's not sleepy time, let's keep working"... so we built a fence. This girl is strong and confident. She's something special!
