You had a massive post a couple of days ago, so I'll keep this one short and sweet. Here's your routine monthly photo along with a behind the scenes video of what these photo shoots now entail.
We're coming up quickly on the 15 month mark, and while I'll try to post then as well, I felt we were long over due for an update.
You are quite the crack up. You love to dance (currently Taylor Swift's 'Shake it Up' is your favorite), and you like to chant 'Buggy..buggy...buggy', which is really Aunt T's fault. You've also added a new handstand move courtesy of your brother. Here are a couple videos of your latest dance antics:
They currently refer to you as "Baby Genius" at school, though we tend to side more with "Baby Boss". You know all of the kids names in your class, and you LOVE to boss them around. Specifically, you like to yell at Anvi.."GET OVER HERE ANVI" is apparently a new favorite phrase. I have yet to hear it first hand, but it's been told to me by multiple teachers. You still will not call your brothers anything, but you squeal with glee every time you see them and usually make them give you a hug.
You are a walking fool, and can go everywhere on foot. Every once in a while you switch back to crawling, but it's definitely become a rareity.
Your favorite words are more, ball, doggy, no, mommy, daddy, bottle, and uh oh. You love berries more than just about anything, and can routinely polish off an entire case on your own. We have no problem getting you to eat most anything, you put your brothers to shame routinely by out eating them on a nightly basis.
You HATE swings, and anything bigger than you usually scares you. You like to go on the slide and to play peek a boo and to ride bikes. You've recently started getting into your dolly as well. The video below is us reading your favorite book "Is that my Dolly", it allows you to use your current favorite phrase (No) many times in a row:
You've learned to do the touchdown sign and are pretty good at only using it for actual Bronco touchdowns (thus the reason I don't have a video of it, I can't get you to do it if there's no touchdown). I do love to dress you up for games and you seem to be tolerating it for the moment.
Overall you are an exceptionally sweet and very busy baby. I truly could not wish for anything better in the world, I adore you sweet pea. Here are some more favorites from the month:
Here's your 14 month shot from the day before our big trip:
And here you are at this same time last year:
You were very hard to nail down on this one, you insisted on throwing Raggedy down the slide every time I set her next to you. I imagine these photo-shoots are going to become increasingly difficult.
Our trip to Hawaii was fantastic. You were a champ on the flight (we did a lot of walking in circles). We got extremely lucky and ended up with a row to ourselves so you were able to create as much havoc as you felt was necessary.
We got to the house which had a great backyard right on the ocean, it gave you lots of room to roam.
We spent the bulk of the trip at a variety of different beaches. You were skilled at getting yourself completely covered in sand without hardly being in it at all. We scrapped attempting to keep you sand free pretty quickly and you probably ate a solid gallon of it over the course of the week. You loved playing in it. You were less thrilled with the ocean, while you love water, you apparently are a bit terrified of moving water. You warmed up to the idea fairly quickly, and in typical Kaia fashion, seemed to enjoy tasting it.
You LOVED pineapples and were so adorable eating it you
scored yourself a free plate of it at a restaurant because the staff
liked watching you eat it so much. You were also a fan of the shaved
ice, which we got every day, you've pretty much mastered the word more.
Otherwise we went for a hike to through the state park, you weren't such a fan of being confined that long:
You found lots of places to nap, and had no shortage of people willing to help you out on your quest for sleep:
And finally, for our biggest news....YOU'RE WALKING!!
You decided pretty quickly down there that you will now be walking in addition to crawling. You were seen multiple occasions walking across rooms all over Hawaii. It's still not your main mode of transportation, but it's close. You also love the word no, "Kaia do you like Hawaii?"...'No', was one of the boys favorite forms of dialogue with you throughout the trip. You love to play hide and go seek (especially with your uncle) and try to keep up with the big kids to the best of your ability. You loved playing with your Aunt and Uncle, Brandon even got you saying his name briefly. You are still the world's easiest baby (though you're learning to throw an epic tantrum), and are generally a very happy and silly kid. We adore you sweet pea!!
I had a fantastic 30th birthday, complete with a present directly from you:
I wouldn't say you're walking at this point, but you've proven you can so it's just a matter of time until you decide this is your preferred mode of transportation.
We spent the day with family at the splash park and the pool. You had a blast with your Grammie, Popo, AunT, and Uncle Dobby. Popo even made me a pea baby plate for part of my present (it's now hanging in your room). In typical Watson fashion, the celebrating isn't done yet so there will be more to come.
You crack me up, you are a little goofball and you love making people laugh. You like to play peek-a-boo and put things on your head.
You also like to play video games with your brothers (someday we'll teach you that's not a phone).
You also have a couple of favorite cookie monster slippers that you love to tromp around in.
Your vocabulary is currently at 8. You can say ball, bottle, that, cookie (the monster, not the food), Dada, Mama, kitty cat, and dog. You also love to sing with me when we put you to bed, it sounds like you're repeating baby over and over, but I can't be sure.
You're the sweetest little girl, and you love to cuddle. You cry when your brothers cry and offer them whatever you're holding to cheer them up. You are also a little climber, you like to climb up (or into) various things to sit. You like little nooks, like the lockers at the gym.
This month we also went to your first Broncos game of the season, you were a bit restless, but were cracking everyone up with your antics:
We go to Hawaii the day after your 14 month mark so there is another post to come. And now for the sap: I'm so unbelievably lucky to have such a sweet daughter in my life. You made my birthday (and my life in general). I can't imagine what I did to deserve such an amazing little girl and I cannot wait to see everything you become. Even when I'm having a rough day, I can count on a minute with you to completely cheer me up. I adore you sweet pea!
Here are a couple of other randoms from the month:
You are the goofiest little bug. You're holding steady at just under 19 lbs, but you're getting taller so you're thinning out a bit. The 13 month picture is a little rough, we were dropping your dad off at
the airport to go to Rwanda so we had to take this picture in the back
of the car
saying bye to Daddy
You're a little jester these days, you love to make people laugh. You like putting things on your head and playing peek a boo (sometimes completely by yourself), both of which make you giggle quite a bit. You also have started this new trend of hitting yourself with things, which is not my favorite of your moves, but you seem to find it amusing. You've gotten very clingy lately, you won't let me leave the room very often, and getting you to stay at daycare is torture. You're happy enough being there, it's just the part where I leave that causes problems. I usually wait outside the door until you calm back down, so I can at least know that you're not spending your day losing it. You're my little side kick so you come with me to everything, I'm dreading the day when that is no longer an appropriate thing to do.
You love fruit and drinking anything out of a cup, you insist on feeding yourself and are very good at shaking your head no. You're learning so many new things every day it's hard to keep up. You still love to dance and you're trying to mimic every new word I teach you (though you really only say ball, kitty cat, uh oh, and Dada on a recurring basis).
You're still an exceptionally sweet baby, and while you don't like getting passed around to strangers as much as you used to, you love people - even if it's just watching them from a distance. I adore you little sweet pea!
We took a trip to Telluride last weekend, for a 6.5 drive, you did amazingly well. Mostly you slept, but you played occasionally with your brothers and did the aforementioned new dance/song combination you've developed.
Once we got to the hotel we took the gondola down to town to eat, you seemed fairly mesmerized by the trip, after we got back from dinner it was fairly late so we all went to bed.
The hotel itself seemed to provide plenty of amusement for you, you helped yourself to our bag of treats which included a peach that you dug right into:
Popo would be sure to point out that your eating is about as dainty as your Mom's. You also had a lot of breakfast picnics on the floor with your brothers...our room was pretty well covered in cereal by the end of the trip.
The next day we tackled Imogene pass. We got out a bunch of times letting you explore the abandoned buildings and ghost town, you seemed happy with all of it:
We eventually made it to the top, and while I got a very impressive picture to prove it:
You were completely and totally out for the count:
You and your brothers then proceeded to sleep throuhg and extremely turbulent ride down the mountain to Ouray, I still am not sure how the logisitcs of that worked, but your little quiet bouncing heads were all we could see for the second half of our ride.
In Ouray we had dinner and went to the Gold Mine:
Our guide may not be at the top of his game and could have potentially been under the influence of certain beverages that you will not be having for a very long time. It made for an amusing and confusing tour.
The next day we hung out at the pool, they had a spectacular waterslide that was far too terrifying for you, but also a nice kiddie pool that you could cruise around in:
We spent our evening exploring Telluride mountain and doing some bouldering (which you then insisted on doing on your own):
It was a short trip, so the next day we headed back home. We made a stop at a local park and Glennwood canyon to try and break the trip up a bit. You love throwing rocks into rivers, so you had a good time:
And that was your first trip to Telluride. You are still the happiest sweetest baby on the planet, and you cracked everyone up on numerous occasions with your dance routine. I'll do a new post tomorrow for your 13 month make to go over more of your milestones and such. I adore you sweet pea! Here is the link to the embarrassingly large album of pictures Telluride Album , you are nothing if not well documented :) Love you!!
